The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, also known as RCIA, provides an opportunity to learn more about the Catholic faith in order to make an informed decision for those individuals interested in entering into full communion with the Catholic Church. Once that decision is made, preparation for the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation and Reconciliation will take place.
Individuals who are not baptized, were baptized in another faith tradition, or were baptized Catholic but did not receive Confirmation and/or Eucharist.
Those who are not baptized are brought into full communion with the Catholic Church during the Easter Vigil (the night before Easter). Individuals who were baptized in another faith tradition are typically welcomed into full communion with the Catholic Church at the Christ the King Mass or at the Pentecost Mass.
Anyone who was baptized Catholic but never received Confirmation and/or Eucharist also participates in a period of formation. This process of formation is completed with the reception of the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion at the Christ the King Mass or at the Pentecost Mass.
For Catholics who have been Baptized, Confirmed and made First Communion but then drifted from the faith, the way they return is through the Sacrament of Penance.
All sacramental preparation for those considering joining the Catholic Church is done by Fr. Aaron Jenkins. Schedule an appointment with Fr. Aaron via email or by calling 317-462-4240.
